Although many women still hold on to the fear of building big, bulky muscles, the reality is that it’s not all that easy to do, especially for women. We start with a lot less muscle than men, and as we age, muscle mass decreases, which has a big impact on overall health.

4. Lifting can help you sleep better. It’s not just the hours of sleep that improve, but it’s the quality of sleep as well.

5. Lifting strengthens your heart. According to the American Heart Association, strength training lowers blood pressure and offers a variety of benefits for heart health. They recommend adults take part in strength training at least twice a week to keep the heart healthy.

6. Strength training can make you look and feel better. Lifting weights actually change body composition and tighten and tone the body making us look better and feel stronger.

7. Weight training improves overall health. It’s no secret that fitness and a diet rich in vitamins and minerals improves overall health. But it can keep illness and some of the issues that come with aging at bay as well.
